Tatoos sort of baffle me.

They are all the rage, but i find it difficult to work out why.

I don't particularly have strong views either way on them. They don't bother me, but at the same time, i'm not neccassarily sure i want one.

Why is it that having something written or drawn onto your skin is so sort after?

And why does it have to be permanent to matter?

I could sit here with my pen and draw whatever i wish onto my skin...and then wash it off later. But its not the same is it?

I read on this website http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/, that in 2006, America alone had almost 1 in 4 people between ages 18 and 50 who were tatooed.

I asked originally, was this because almost 1 in 4 18 to 50 year olds were unhappy in their skin, but this makes no sense, since many of these people would only have at least one tatoo...

Plus, i was wondering why lots of people say, "if i were to get a tattoo, it'd be somewhere i could hide it." Why?!?

Baffling!

Im gona say with this post that 1 in 4 people having tattoos seems to be about right i guess but i think the number will grow, this is not because people are 'unhappy' with their skin i feel tattoos are more a way of expressing yourself and further more it's art! the reason so many people say "i'd get one where i culd hide it" probly because they know some people will think it's not desirable, for example in the work place. I feel this view should change as tattoos as an art or expression should be appreciated and not looked down upon.
